Collection Types
Pixave offers Collections which fall into 3 main categories with the following uses:
- Library (System Collection)
- All: View all images currently in use in the Pixave library.
- Tags: View all images with tags.
- Colors: View all images with Colors
- Recent: View images imported in the past few days (the time setting can be adjusted in Preferences > General).
- Trash: View all images to delete
- Collections (System Collection)
- Screen: View imported images classified as screen captures.
- Phone: View imported images with resolutions similar to a range of Smartphone resolutions.
- Tablet: View imported images with resolutions similar to a range of Tablet resolutions.
- Web: View imported images classified as Web captures.
- Icon: View imported Apple ICNS and ICO images.
- Button: View imported images designated “Button” by the user.
- Interface: View imported images designated “Interface” by the user.
- Animated GIF: View imported Animated GIFs.
- Wallpaper: View imported images with resolutions similar to a range of desktop and laptop resolutions.
- Movie: View imported all videos
- PDF: View imported PDFs.
- Watch: View imported images with resolutions similar to range of Apple Watch resolutions
- Fonts: View imported all fonts
- Documents: View imported documents. (ex: Pages, Numbers, Keynote and more…)
- Your Collections (User-defined Collection)
- In Your Collections the user’s own Collections, Folders, and Smart Collections are displayed.
What is a collection?
The Collection is your primary media holder. It has a unique, privileged relationship with media. Every media must be in a Collection.
What is a smart Collection?
A smart collection is virtual-media collection that automatically updates itself according to a set of criteria you define. The benefit to smart collection is they allow you to quickly access specific groups of media that are not worth putting into a separate collection.
What is a folder?
Pixave provides Folders to aid you. Folder hold groups of Collection, Smart Collection and other folder. Folders cannot contain media which are not in a Collection or Smart Collection.
Create a Collection
- Click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click”.
- Click on “New Collection”.
- Type a name for the Collection.
Edit a Collection
- Select the Collection to edit.
- Click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click” the item, then select “Rename XXX”. (Or Press the “Return” key).
- Type a name for the Collection.
Create a Smart Collection
- Click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click”.
- Click on “New Smart Collection”.
- The window pictured below, to specify the Smart Collection parameters, is displayed.
- Type the name of the Smart Collection to create.
- Select the Smart Collection settings. (“ Any” is selected by default)
- Add desired parameters.
- Once everything has been specified click the “Save” button.
Edit a Smart Collection
- Select a Smart Collection to edit.
- Click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click” the item, then select “Edit XXX”. (If you want to edit the name of a smart collection, Press the “Return” key, then type a name for the smart collection)
- When the selected name of the Collection is inverted type in the name of the desired Collection and press the “Return” key.
Create a Folder
- Click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click”.
- Click on “New Folder”.
- Type a name for the folder.
Edit a Folder
- Select a folder to edit.
- Click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click” the item, then select “Rename XXX”. (Or Press “Return” key.)
- Type a name for the folder.
Move a Collection, Smart Collection, or Folder by dragging
- Select a Collection, Smart Collection, or Folder to move.
- Drag into the desired folder.
The Collection Label color
- Select a Collection, Smart Collection, or Folder.
- Right mouse-click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click” the item in the sidebar.
- Select the desired label color.
Delete a Collection or Folder
- Select a Collection, Smart Collection, or Folder.
- Right mouse-click the button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen or “Control-click” the item, then select “Delete”.
Note: when deleting a Folder, any Collections and their images within the folder are also deleted.
